Fighter Jet Trainers Sport Planes

You want a fighter jet as your personal aircraft; do not deny it. You want to travel faster than the speed of sound and play Top Gun in the sky. Well, it may be possible soon for you to do this, if you have the cash of course. Having studied the possibilities and options for a Supersonic Jet Trainer for fighter aircraft, one might notice that there have been lots of recent media discussions and many solutions at this years Paris Airshow. One such aircraft is the Mako trainer by Mercedes Benz. Top speed 1050 mph. Many years back we used the T-38 an F-5 Tiger with two seats.

These units are needed because before you put someone in an F-22 Fighter, which costs 100 million dollars, they better be able to fly the damn thing and fly it well. The Mako could also be a fighter if needed for small countries to be their Air Force. It can use either the EJ200 by Eurojet or an F414 by GE or even Snecma M88 (a company out of France trying to make itself popular in aerospace circles for lightweight high out put engines).

They see this aircraft as an intro to the F-16 or F-22. Many third world countries go to Arizona and use old vintage A-4s for training or train in the desert in CA. This aircraft is long like the T-38 about 45 feet. Aviation Week had some interesting things to say about this project.

However many companies are competing for these aircraft for trainers including the Koreans T-50, which we have discussed before and the price tag is good and they are readily available now while the Mako is about early 2003 bound and delivered in 2005. The US is now taking delivery of Raytheon's T-6A Texan 2 has the security of U.S. military procurement.

Now as a matter of fact I talked to a training pilot in San Antonio who said they were getting their first ones in last June. Many Aerospace consultants in Europe believe this aircraft may take the lead around the world as the trainer of place. Many countries still are not exactly feeling good about buying the Korean T-50s. In any case what a wonderful fun and cool aircraft to have as a sport plane. You know you want one. Think about it.

Tips for a Better Hotel Stay

!±8± Tips for a Better Hotel Stay

Every day I encounter people either coming from or going to the airport. Some are experienced travelers; some are terrified at the 'big' airport they have landed at. All have one of two goals in mind - get to the hotel as quickly as possible or get to the plane as easily as possible. Here are just a few thoughts to help you achieve your goal.

1). ALWAYS keep a print-out of your reservation handy. At most airports in the U.S. there are multiple franchises, sometimes distinguished by innocuous words like Days Inn West or Comfort Inn South. Knowing the address of where you are going helps to get the right shuttles, directions for cabs and even the hotel you are attempting to get to.

2). If you do not have a room reservation and are calling hotels from the airport 'hotel' board, do not call five hotels and have them send out a shuttle when you know you won't be staying with them. This often results in shuttles dead-heading home without a passenger and makes their real guests wait longer for the next shuttle. You may someday be on the receiving end of this because some yahoo called for your shuttle 15 minutes before you and now it has already left the airport.

3). Do your homework when booking a hotel if you require certain features like restaurants or grocery/drugstores nearby (and open late if necessary), a fitness center, continental breakfast, business center, public transportation, etc. This you can sometimes discover by reading reviews. Reviews may also tell you if the area is safe enough to walk in after dark

4). Do a walk through of your room when you depart. This will uncover those shampoos left in the shower, medicines in a drawer, shoes or DVD's or flash drives left under a bed and clothes hanging behind the bathroom door. ALWAYS check electrical outlets for phone, camera or battery chargers left plugged in.

5). Do not assume you can miss your scheduled shuttle BACK to the airport and just 'catch the next one' or get an earlier one. Most are on reservation status and may not have room on the next one, meaning you either have to take a cab or perhaps wait an hour or more for a ride.

These are just a few common sense suggestions but are often forgotten about in the hustle and bustle of making reservations, negotiating airport layovers and transfers from airport to hotel and back. They can save you aggravation, time, money and even potential lost business when you discover you forgot your business notes, phone charger or PDA in the hotel room.
